houses 117 Individual warehouse units. This site is also the largest within the TDG portfolio – a network of facilities covering the UK and Ireland and mainland Europe.
TDG has owned the site since 1958, prior to which, the M.O.D. operated the premises as an Ordnance Depot. The site was built between three protecting hillsides as a defence against view and from aerial attacks. The 100+ rounded buildings referred to as “Romneys” were connected by means of a narrow gauge railway - the remains of the tracks and the engine house can still be seen today.
Since the 1960’s, the site has been developed by TDG to incorporate larger and better quality warehouses, which are now operated by TDG on behalf of a number of both blue chip and local companies. There are also a smaller quantity of buildings that are sub-let to local businesses, again demonstrating employment opportunities within the local area.
TDG also offers services to clients requiring “outside storage,” a fact which is best demonstrated by the 850+ caravan owners who store their vehicles within the secure site.
