West Hallam Parish Council
Councillor Mrs Carol Hart
Chairman of the Parish Council
As most of you who follow the Council news will know Cllr. Michael Sherwood who has been Vice-Chairman for a number of years passed away suddenly a few weeks ago whilst out delivering his election leaflets in Kirk Hallam where he was due to stand as a candidate in the Derbyshire County Council elections. Mike was a real asset to the Parish Council and he will be sadly missed. He gave me terrific support in my role as Chairman and could always be relied on. The meetings will never be quite the same without him.
I do not intend to go through the past year as there are annual reports that you can read on the web site about the Parish Council, Erewash Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council, but just to say that it is good that we do usually have members of public who attend out meetings, which are now
Powtrell Community Pavilion
The Late Councillor Michael Sherwood
held on the first Monday of every month at the new Powtrell Pavilion and I know quite a few receive copies of our electronic newsletter. It is pleasing to know that residents are interested in what we do.
There are quite a few projects we would like to deliver but at the moment everything seems to be on hold as we have a major problem with the drainage on Beech Lane Recreation Ground. We are working hard to solve the problem but until we know the true extent of the work needed we are keeping a tight rein on our finances. Hopefully we are on our way to solving the problem and we can start to put in place some of our list of projects.
We always welcome feedback from our residents and if ever you feel like making any suggestions that would improve our area please feel free to contact myself, one of the other Parish Councillors, the Parish Clerk or the webmaster. We are always open to other people’s views.
I do realise that last year I only did one Chairman’s letter and hopefully with a prompt from the Webmaster I will do an update two or three time’s during the year.
Kind regards,
Carol Hart
