Welcome to my page on the Parish Council’s web site.
I was very pleased to be co-opted onto the Parish Council at the beginning of 2010. This followed my election as a Borough Councillor to represent the West Hallam and Dale Abbey Ward on Erewash Borough Council at the January 2010 by-election following the retirement of John Fildes.
I have lived in West Hallam for over thirty years and have a great attachment to the area. Over the years I have been involved in several local community organisations - Scargill School PTA, as an elected Parent Governor of Kirk Hallam Community College, with West Hallam JFC and as Clerk to the West Hallam Trust, a position which I continue to hold. I currently represent the Parish Council on the West Hallam Village Hall Committee and the Ann Powtrell Foundation.
I have spent most of my working life in Local Government, and up to my early retirement in 2006 I was Democratic Services Manager at Erewash Borough Council. I’ve been asked whether this makes me ‘gamekeeper turned poacher’ or ‘poacher turned gamekeeper’. Now there’s one to think about!
My personal interests include cooking, walking (but not too far!), music, DIY and gardening and in my retirement I have established a small business designing and operating web sites, mainly for Parish Councils.
